Baylor loses a close game to UCONN!! 65-64

On November 16, 2010, Baylor lost a close game to the girl's great team, UCONN.  The game actually came down to the last 6 seconds when Uconn's player Maya Moore missed a basket.  Baylor's Jones got the rebound and Baylor flew down the court.  They were unable to make the game winning shot as it was like 32 feet away from the basket. Baylor and their star Brittney Griner were supposed to give the Huskies a good game, but no one knew it would be that good!!!  To me, Uconn had an advantage playing at their gym and also Baylor had played 4 games in 5 days!  After last season's loss for Baylor, they were back for revenge after losing by 20 last time the two teams played.  The game was televised and at the game was one of Uconns greats, Sue Bird. The game ended with the final score of 65-64, Uconn.

If Baylor would have won it would have been the first time that Uconn has lost in exactly two years. Uconn is eight wins short of matching the 88-game string put together by UCLA's men's team in the 1970s.

Providence Day Lady Chargers Basketball

Providence Day School's Girl's Varsity Basketball team has started off their season.  The first game of the season was in Virginia vs. Oak Hill.  The Lady Chargers varisty basketball team had a slow start last night (November 17) as they fell to the Oak Hill Lady Warriors.  The Lady Chargers faught hard and cut the Warrior's lead to 4 points with 3 minutes remaining in the game.  However, their rally wasn't enough to grab the win.  The Chargers lost to a talented Oak Hill team 68-61.  Tiffany Mitchell lead the way in points with 17.  Jatarie White added 14, Olivia Parker 13, Jada Brayboy 9, Emma Pixley 6 and Dacia Thompson 2.  This was the first game of the Chargers season.  Their record is now 0-1.  The girls next game is on December 1st vs. Rabun Gap.

The Miami Heat 2010

Did the Miami Heat get lucky this season with free agents Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh?  Everyone who is a fan of the Miami Heat have bought their tickets and are ready to see the talent and this team win! Everyone who is an NBA fan knows that with this talent, this team SHOULD win everything.  However, is too much talent on a team a bad thing?  Will one star want to shine over another?  I mean, I was seriously expecting an undefeated pre-season with the talent the Heat have.  However, their pre-season record was 6-4.  Those numbers just do not sound good with big names like James, Wade, and Bosh!  Will their season be better?  I hope so with all the tickets that every single team playing against this team sold in general.

Other questions about the Heat:  Will Lebron, who everyone thinks is Michael Jordan, shine brighter than Wade?  Will Miami throw away their first love, Wade, and be all about Lebron?  Will the Miami Heat win the title?

Wade and Lebron have different talents in different areas.  I do not think one will outshine the other.  Some nights, yes.  Everyone has their on and off nights.  Miami will always show their love for Wade.  When Lebron made his decision to come to Miami, I heard a "buzz" that many Heat fans said, "No. Don't come." because they love Wade.  Now, will the Heat win the title?  They should, but I am sure there is another team that is going to work harder.  Hardwork and heart will beat talent any day.

Belmont Abbey College Volleyball

For the past 4-5 years, BAC volleyball has been horrible.  Last year their record was like 7-15.  They have came back this year without losing a single person and are now 3rd in conference and playing the # 1 team tonight to maybe move up to 2nd place.  What is the difference in the same exact team with the same exact coach from one year to another?  This happenes all the time.  Did the coach lighten up/tighten up?  Did the team mature?  Are the practices more fundamental and correctly ran?  Is volleyball more fun?  To me, all of those questions had to occur for a team to start being successful.  Obviously it wasnt the team drama, because the same players are back.  All the questions above are a "yes."  The sport was made more fun by the coach, the players matured, the practices are being ran correctly, and all of this, so far, has added up to a successful volleyball  team for Belmont Abbey College for the first time in many years. Good Job Lady Crusaders, keep up the hard work.

Cliff Lee pitching after 8 days rest

Cliff Lee for the Texas Rangers is going to pitch the first game of the World Series against the Giants after an 8 days rest.  The last game he pitched was against the Yankees, 8 days back.  Is this a good decision for the Rangers to make whenever he hasnt been in a game-like situation in 8 days?  This is a world series game and it definitiely counts for everything.  Cliff Lee says, "I was preparing to potentially pitch [Game 7 on Saturday], so I had been on my routine like that, and now obviously I'm pitching the first game," Lee said Sunday. "So, I'm just going to make the adjustment and push it back a couple of days. But, yeah, it's not that big of a deal."  The pitcher seems confident in the coaches' decision.  I believe that if the player feels confident and if the player has been practicing his normal routines, the team will be ok.  I guess the fans and I will see how it goes, Game 1 of the World Series when the Rangers take on the Giants.

Matt Moore coming off the bench for the Win

http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/10/25/matt-moores-response-to-benching-pays-off-for-coach-john-fox-p/

Was benching Matt Moore for a few games the right thing for Fox and the Panthers to do?  After yesterday's play I would say yes!  Matt Morroe, the qb for the Panthers did an excellent job yesterday, October 24th against the 49ers.  His passing game was the best I have seen all year.  (That's not much to say though)  The Panthers and the 49ers had a close game the entire day.  With a minute left, the score was 20 to 20.  The 49ers off the bench QB, threw as interception which put the Panthers and John Kasay in position to kick the field goal. The field goal was good and the Panthers won 23-20.

Another question is asked too.  Did the Panthers only win because the 49ers starting QB was injured and never came back into the game?  Did the 49ers bench QB lose the game?  My opinion is that either way the Panthers pulled out their first win of the season, and Moore seemed to have learned a lot while being benched the other 2 games.

Concussions...Jay Cutler/Bears

Concussions need to be taken very seriously especially in the NFL where hard hits can cause serious injuries.  The Bears QB Cutler sat out of the last game vs the Panthers due to a concussion.  They are hoping he will be back for the next game, but is that even a good idea?   Head injuries are a very serious topic and playing too soon after a concussion can cause an athlete to have brain damage or even be paralyzed.  I guess we will see in the coach starts Cutler in the next game.
